Following the official petitions and complain from the Member Representing the people of Ideato North and South in House of Representatives, Hon. Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, The National Assembly has resolved to investigate the alleged abandonment of Orlu-Mgbe-Akokwa Road in Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State, by the state government and some oil companies despite former President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of Tax Incentive Credit for the project.
According to the report the road was captured by the President Mohammed Buhari’s Administration, awarded to a Contractor before it was abandoned.
Recall that in October, 2017, former President Buhari approved the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit (RITC) Scheme which was designed to attract private sector involvement in the provision of road infrastructure across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the road leading to Some States in the South East has remained a shadow of itself and impassable over the years due to Erosion menace and ungrateful abandonment by those in the position to do the work.
With the recent development it’s expected that works will soon commence to ensure that the road is fixed to aminorate the suffering of the people of Ideato North and South Federal Constituency.
