The Leadership of Ugiri Clan Elders Council in siala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the House of Assembly Member for Isiala Mbano State Constitutiency, Hon. Chief Sam Osuji, for his legislative prowess and effective representations.
It was a massive outpouring of goodwill and commendations on Hon Barrister Sir Chief Sam Ikechukwu Osuji, Member Representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly, as Members of Ugiri Clan Elders Council expressed satisfaction and total confidence in his representation during a special meeting.
This expressions was made when members of Ugiri Clan Elders Council paid a courtesy visit to the lawmaker in his office at the Assembly complex on thursday, 14/03/2024, For synergy and development of the clan through the instruments of the State Government.
The visit also was in appreciation for the good works, quality representation and most importantly, the concerted efforts of Hon Sam Osuji to draw the attention of the State Government to the devastating erosion menace that has left some parts of Ugiri community in total disarray and almost cut off from the rest of Isiala Mbano local government area.
Speaking, the leader of the delegations and the Apex leader of the Ugiri Clan Elders Council, Chief Bennett Uwakwem, expressed satisfactions with the quality of representation from Hon Osuji for the people of Isiala Mbano State Constituency, describing him as a Legislator Of Conscience, one who has becomed a big Iroko tree that protects and takes care of smaller trees.
Further, Chief Uwakwem stated, “You visited our place to see the erosion site, and shedded tears. You promised to do something about it. You went back and moved a strong Motion, calling on the State Government to intervene. You shedded tears on the floor of the House, while presenting your Motion of urgent importance. Your colleagues joined and supported you. We thank the Speaker who gave you the floor to speak while presenting your Motion. We watched you on television, heard your voice on radio, read you on social media and newspapers, drawing the attention of Government to the devastating erosion menace in our community. We are very grateful. We are very proud of you. On behalf of Ugiri Clan, we say thank you as you continued in your good works”
It would be recalled that, the Law-maker, Hon Osuji, had earlier sponsored a Motion on the devastating erosion menace in Umuokpara and Nkwo-Mbaa in Ugiri Oka Ward In Ugiri Clan in Isiala Mbano. The sorrowful motion from Osuji moved Imo State House of Assembly to urge the State Government for immediate intervention, to save the Ugiri Community from being cut off completely.
Responding, the eloquent legislator congratulated the people of Ugiri Clan for always taking the front burner whenever political discourse was being discussed in Isiala Mbano, describing them as the vibrant majority in the Isiala Mbano State Constituency.
In his words, “Ugiri has always been the first to recognize Authority. I am very proud of you. History has what it takes to pay people back. Your traditional ruler, Hrh Eze Marcel Agbaka is a person I have known over the years. He was brought to my office years ago when I was Sole Administrator of Isiala Mbano. When I saw him, I knew he would be a great traditional ruler, and I prayed he would be a worthy and caring ruler. Till this moment, he has not disappointed”, “On the burning issue of erosion menace in Ugiri, I have limitations as a legislator. However, it is my wish that in no distant time this challenge will be a thing of the past. Our Governor is a God sent governor. He has come to ameliorate the plights of the people. Take it from me, His Excellency is coming to solve that erosion menace problem. On the day I presented that Motion on erosion menace, every House Member stood and supported me. I also informed the House that Ugiri Clan is a community that has five political wards”. Osuji said.
The lawmaker explained that, Isiala Mbano is standing on a tripod, namely, Osu, Ugiri and Mbama, and that his political aides were picked from the tripod, to represent equity, fairness and justice. He further restated his commitment to the growth and development of Isiala Mbano, pledging, “Just watch out. Your support for me cannot be taken for granted”
Contributing the Chief Whip Imo State House Assembly Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri, Member for Oru East State Constitutiency who joined Hon. Osuji to receive the delegates from Ugiri Clan, thanked them for the visit and reassured them that they didn’t make any mistake in elections of an experienced leader and for sending a good Man to Imo State House of Assembly as they will reap the benefits soon.
