Imo Billionaire Organization, Hon. Chief Charles Orie Foundation Celebrates Christmas with Orphanage Homes, Dole Out Gifts, Donates ₦10m

The Hon. Chief Charles Orie Foundation, founded by Imo-born philanthropist and businessman, Hon. Chief Charles Orie, has celebrated the 2025 Christmas season with orphans and vulnerable children across Imo State, donating a total of ₦10 million to five registered orphanage homes and doling out precious gifts items to be shared among the beneficiary’s.

The charity event, organised in collaboration with the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, took place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Odenigbo Centre, Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri.

The initiative formed part of a statewide outreach by the foundation aimed at spreading love, care and hope to destitute, orphaned and less-privileged children within the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province.

Welcoming guests, the Director-General of JDPC, Rev. Fr. Dr. Gerald Njoku, described the gesture as timely and impactful, noting that the Charles Orie Foundation had consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to restoring hope and dignity among vulnerable children as the founder Chief Charles Orie has remained a lover of mankind and his outstanding personality speaks volume of his person as one of the State philanthropist.

He expressed profound gratitude to Chief Orie and his foundation for donating food items, beverages, toiletries, Pastries, noodles, Christmas clothing’s and other relief materials to registered orphanage homes, saying the intervention has brought joy to children without parental care during this festive season.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of ₦2 million each to five orphanage homes, namely: Holy Family Sisters of the Needy Orphanage, Okwu-Uratta; Hope House Orphanage, Ngugo Ikeduru; Little Disciples of Jesus Orphanage, Umuokanne; and Missionary Daughters of the Compassionate Lord Jesus Orphanage Centres at World Bank, Owerri, and Don Gwolina, Nebukwu, Oguta. The total cash donation amounted to ₦10 million.

Speaking at the event, Chief Orie, popularly known as Akuatuegwu and Royal Traditional Prime Minister, said the outreach was driven by his foundation’s passion for humanity and shared responsibility for the welfare of the less privileged.

“I came to identify with the orphans because their joy and pain are not theirs alone. We must share it. In these children, I see future leaders and agents of transformation whose potential must not be ignored,” he said.

He stressed that caring for the vulnerable should be a collective responsibility, adding that his vision and ideology remain focused on ensuring the welfare of all, especially the underprivileged.

Also speaking, Rev. Sister Mary Joseph-Therese Nwokoroku of the Eucharistic Care Unit, JDPC, and leader of the Holy Family Sisters of the Needy Orphanage, commended the foundation for its compassion and generosity during what she described as a difficult period for many families.

She assured that all donations would be judiciously utilised for the benefit of the children, praising Rev. Fr.Dr. Njoku for attracting kind-hearted individuals to support orphan care in the archdiocese.

Dignitaries at the event included Dr. Greg Obi, Chief Felix Onuba, Hon. Justus Ojika, Chief Innocent Onwubiko, Hon. Charles Mbachu, Hon. Kelvin Onyemairo, Hon. Sir Golden Nwokoma, PhD, Chief Henry Egwuatu (Ozuomee), Rev. Fr. Brigadier Charles, Attorney Randy Ukanwoke, Arc. Uzoma Nwachukwu, Chief Chibuzor Dike, and Chief Anayo Nwadike.( Igbo of Igbo Land

Speaking to journalists, Chief Innocent Onwubiko, an Imo indigene based in the United States, described Chief Orie as a rare leader with genuine empathy for the people, noting that his philanthropic efforts distinguish him as a credible figure in the state’s leadership space.

Similarly, Attorney Randy Ukanwoke from Abia State described Chief Orie as a man of compassion and a blessing to Imo State, urging the people to embrace leaders with proven records of service to humanity, especially the downtrodden and less privileged.

The event concluded with goodwill messages and a call for love, unity and compassion during the Christmas season from other individual in the State and a special prayer from the Children to the Founders of the Organization and his board members.
It was a season of joy and gratification to God ends with the children eating like kings and queens in a well served and trained chef.
