In a remarkable display of commitment to community development, renowned philanthropist, **Chief Bright Akachi Alozie**, has fulfilled his promise of empowering youths and supporting education in Itu Autonomous Community, Ezinihite Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Although unavoidably absent, Chief Alozie delivered the empowerment packages through the Itu Ezinihite Mbaise Dynamic Foundation Committee at Itu Primary Town School, Saturday 15 November 2024, which supervised the selection process to ensure that all component villages benefited equitably.

As part of the scheme, 24 mini-buses, were distributed to youths two beneficiaries from each of the 12 villages, while additional vehicles were allocated for community services. The philanthropist also donated an ultra-modern ambulance, to the Dynamic Medical Centre, Itu, to enhance emergency healthcare delivery in the area.

To further promote sanitation and unity, each of the 12 villages received **two wheelbarrows, while Itu Market Traders Association and the community hospital also received two wheelbarrows each.

In the education category, Chief Alozie awarded scholarships to two students from each village, bringing the total to ,24 beneficiaries, with an additional **five special candidates selected to receive ₦250,000 annually.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Representative of the Donor , Chief Lucas Iyama, expressed deep appreciation to the donor and urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity. He encouraged the students to demonstrate excellence in their studies to attract further support.

For the mini-bus beneficiaries, the Foundation announced a ₦2.5 million repayment plan over two years, aimed at sustaining the empowerment programme for other youths.

Speaking Manager of the Foundation Mr. God’s power Obinna Achibiri-Osuagwu who was earlier extolled for doing a thorough job with the members of his Committee in ensuing evenly selections of the beneficiary in according to the number of villages in Itu Autonomous Community, said that the buses 29 in number will be giving to 24 Persons and 5 to Groups including the security units
and the Hospital.

In his goodwill message, the Eze-Elect of Itu Autonomous Community, Chief Alexander Eberendu, prayed for God’s continued blessings on Chief Alozie. He lamented the rising hardship faced by the community due to harsh economic policies and urged other well-meaning indigenes to emulate the gesture.

Speaking on behalf of the scholarship recipients, Miss Angel Iwuchukwu, a student of Pure and Industrial Chemistry at the University of Port Harcourt, expressed gratitude to the donor and the committee for a transparent selection process, pledging not to disappoint.

Presenting the vehicle keys to beneficiaries, Chief Joseph Alozie, the beloved father of the donor, prayed that the vehicles would uplift the economic fortunes of the beneficiaries and contribute to the overall development of Itu Autonomous Community.

Names of the beneficiary are well articulated in the foundation gazette and will be made available to the public in the future for the interest of the Community development and the Donor who equally has done well in the area of Primary and Secondary Schools in Itu by temporarily employing 18.teachers to ensure that the schools are functioning in support of Imo State government education sector.

ITU EZINIHITTE EDUCATION FOUNDATION — FINAL REPORT ON 2025 SCHOLARSHIP & EMPOWERMENT AWARDS**

The Itu Expanded Education and Empowerment Management Team has released the final list of beneficiaries for the **2025 Maiden Scholarship Awards** and the **Community Transport Empowerment Scheme**, following a transparent ballot/lucky-dip exercise held on **18th September 2025** in the presence of applicants, parents, community representatives and observers.

The event commenced at 10:49am and ended at 12:24pm. All applications were reviewed based on the Foundation’s approved criteria, including indigeneship, indigency, academic status, valid admission documents, student ID, and village representation. Two awardees were selected per village.

In which the winners were selected based on indigeneship, driving competence, capacity, commitment to community service, provision of surety, asset declaration and agreement signing. Each recipient will repay N2,500,000 within 2 years, totaling N60,000,000 expected repayment to the Foundation not to the Donor.
