Clarification on Obile Autonomous Community Crisis: Prince Amadioha Not Involved

By Our Reporter

The leadership crisis rocking Obile Autonomous Community in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State has recently escalated, leading to violence, destruction of property, and the unfortunate loss of lives. In the midst of this unrest, there have been unfounded attempts to drag the name of the Executive Chairman of Ohaji-Egbema LGA, Prince Marcel Amadioha, into the controversy.

It is important to set the record straight and categorically state that Prince Marcel Amadioha has no involvement in the internal communal dispute in Obile, which is clearly a result of the refusal of the former President General, Mr. Kingsley Omuruka, to kindly relinquish power after the expiration of his tenure.

Community sources reveal that Comrade Ndubuisi Obido was duly elected by the people of Obile Autonomous Community as the new President General in a peaceful and transparent process. His election was accepted by the Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Council, and he was officially presented at the Council Headquarters in Mmahu.

Contrary to claims in certain tabloids and on social media, Prince Amadioha neither nominated nor appointed Comrade Obido.

His role as Executive Chairman is to ensure peace and security in all communities under his jurisdiction, including Obile. It is in line with this mandate that the Council has set up a conflict resolution committee, which includes the Vice Chairman of the LGA, Mrs. Elizabeth Uluma Jude-Opara, to mediate and restore peace in the area.

Unfortunately, instead of supporting the new leadership, Mr. Kingsley Omuruka has continued to parade himself as President General, making baseless allegations and inciting unrest. Notably, he accused Comrade Obido of criminal activities — a claim that was fully investigated by the Department of State Services (DSS), who found no wrongdoing and cleared him.

Reacting to the situation, Prince Amadioha condemned the attempt to tarnish his image, stressing that he has always supported lawful and peaceful transitions of leadership in all autonomous communities.

He emphasized that Omuruka’s actions have contributed significantly to the current crisis, as he has refused to step aside and support his successor.

“When Kingsley Omuruka was elected as President General, I supported him. Now that his tenure is over, he should support the newly elected PG for the good of the community,” Prince Amadioha stated. “Dragging the Council and my name into this crisis is completely unjustified. I will not fold my arms and watch violence consume our communities.”

He called on security agencies and relevant authorities to investigate the root causes of the crisis and hold all instigators of violence accountable.

The Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Council remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and progress in all its communities and will continue to support lawful leadership and discourage any form of impunity or lawlessness.

Attempt to get the side of Comrade Kingsley Omuruka proves abortive as the phone numbers were unable to connect.
