The Special Adviser to Governor on Illegal Park and Supervision of All Parks In Imo State, Hon. Pastor Frank Onwumere has exposed the agenda for the protests by Container Drivers Association in Imo State as hatchet one orchestrated planned by non State actors to Truncate Peace.
Speaking against the recent impasse and blockages of some link roads along Port Harcourt Express way, Owerri, last Monday by the Association using Long Vehicles on a trump up charges that their member Trailer was caught in contravene the law by plying one Way and abandonment of his long vehicle at the middle of the road for several hours before it was impounded by the Taskforce team working under Imo State Illegal Park and Supervision of All Parks In Imo State agency led by, Hon Pastor Frank Onwumere.
According to, Pastor Onwumere his intervention, that last Friday evening brought about the impounding of the vehicle to serve as a deterrent to other drivers as the arrested person was allegedly using abusive and sensational words against the government and the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma Onwa Oyoko in particular in which the SA Onwumere demand an apology and payment of the committed offenses Levy to the TSA.
He pointed out that, on Saturday, he waited patiently at his office for the man to come and settle and carry his vehicle without knowing they have a sinister move to cause infractions and cohesion in the State. He commended Chief of Staff Government House Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie, Imo State Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma, Deputy Chief of Staff Barr Sydney Agbo and many others for their timely interventions and recalled that those perpetrating crimes are the first to fight back on the just people and called on those using violence to note that no amount of intimidation can stop him from doing the right thing. To stop all forms of illegal Parking, Trading on the roads, One Chance Syndicate and “Akanenu”.
“Any insult or assault on the governor, My Principal, Senator Hope Uzodimma is directly on me as his core loyalists and I will not tolerate such actions from anyone because the governor I know has done great to uplift the living Standards of the people”. Onwumere
Responding, Secretary Onne Container Drivers Association, Rivers State, Mr. Samuel Ifeanyi Ossia, said that, they are not Tanker Drivers but Container Drivers Association and over time his members are facing a lot of challenges crossing or coming to Imo State mostly Owerri Municipal Council.
Mr Ossia, said that, their major routes included Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi and Delta States but among all the State he mentioned, it’s only in Imo State that his members are experiencing restrictions of vehicles movement. Still yet, ones you give money to the Taskforce team they will cross your vehicle any time any day but when you are going alone they will contravene and seize the vehicle and tagged it for coming to kill the people without release it to the owner until huge amount of money is paid.
Does it mean that, when they collect money as a bribe to pass lorry,the vehicle won’t kill under their illegal escorts or ?.
When we called the attention of Imo State government on the Carnage’s and deplorable spots at Umuapu or Umuagwo in Ohaji Egbema LGA the reports we often received is that the roads are under the federal road while they are attacking us in the Same road.
We are happy with the Imo State government responses, Chief of Staff, Sir Anyaehie, Imo CP Aboki Danjuma and many others has done great by freeing the lorry since morning hours of today being Tuesday but while we are still around is the attacks from the Military late last night with heavy molestation, Intimidations and alleged vandalism that resulted in the destructions of over 50 vehicles and damaging eight tires, and each tire is very costly about Three hundred and fifty Thousand naira, (350,000), side mirrors and many windscreen badly shattered and some of our members are currently receiving treatment at Federal Medical centers (FMC) Owerri Imo State as a result of ill treatment they received from the military attack.
Ossia, expressed sadness that his people are currently suffering in the State as a result of heavy molestation Intimidations and alleged vandalism prior to the protests and called on the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma to wade into the matter to restore peace.
Speaking on behalf of the drivers, Mr. Emeka Osuzugbo condemned the attacks from the military and described their past experience while crossing Owerri Imo State as horrible and pointed out that the military in some strategic points in Imo State are also a torn in their flesh and called on the government to assist members of the container Driver’s Association.
